How Do We View Another Person’s Sins?

How Do We View Another Person's Sins?

I. Two extremes

    A. Harsh judgment (John 8:2-5)
    B. Complete tolerance (1 Corinthians 5:1-2, 6-7)

II. Comparative morality

    A. “At least I never did that” (Luke 18:9-14)
    B. Are we judged by our brother’s actions, or by our own? What is the standard? (2 Corinthians 5:10; John 12:48)

III. The proper view

    A. With sadness (Isaiah 15:5; Romans 9:1-5)
    B. With gentle attempts at restoration (Galatians 6:1)
    C. With an eye to bring them to repentance (2 Corinthians 7:9-10; James 5:19-20)
